Rotolo di patate con…

The potatoes I think is the most used product in the kitchen

(you can argue about whether or not to makes  fat)

but you can prepare  them in a thousand ways.
And I thought this time to prepare them in an easy way but really good

ingredients
Potatoes
Ham
Eggs
Soft cheese (blue cheese brie Taleggio .. etc)
Grated cheese
Leeks
Olive oil (extra virgin)
Salt and pepper
Fresh basil

Peel the potatoes and boil them, when are  soft,

remove them from the water

and mash them, and let them cool.

Add the grated cheese, and eggs,

and if you have fresh basil, and mix everything

Take the mixture and spread it on a sheet of paper  for oven,

add now (as you can see in the picture)

the cheese I used the brie cheese but you might as well add other types of cheese,

ham salt and pepper.

Roll up as you see in the picture

Cut the leek in shaped ring,

and let it cook gently in a pan with a little oil

so that the leek becomes soft

In the meantime, take the potato roll and let it boil for about 15 minutes

At the end of cooking, remove it from the baking paper cut it into slices,

put the slices on a tray along with the cooked leek, and put the whole thing in the oven for about 20 minutes at 200 degrees, and let it cook au gratin.
et voila a another delicious dish

  1. I have never seen ANY recipe like this! It looks delicious and original and creative.🙂 The Taleggio is a nice suggestion – it is such a great melting cheese with a nice, nutty flavor. I see that you have a potato rice – such a handy kitchen tool.🙂 Thank you for sharing. This beautiful rotolo looks almost like a tartine. Thank you for sharing, Massi! PS All things in moderation, right? Nothing “makes” one fat, just overdoing it.🙂

      • Your English is great – and so are your recipes and photos.🙂 Yes, my kids love vegetables… especially when put inside of delicious food. I suppose that we must moderate vegetables… though I could live on them. Love veggies and fruit!🙂 Have a fabulous weekend, Massi…

    • I think it’s time that you start eating a lot of white meat and a lot white fish, it helps a lot to the memory (which unfortunately you do not have more.)

  3. sono anche io una grande fans delle patate ( e non è vero che ingrassano, basta mangiarne nella giusata misura, del resto come tutti i cibi9 questo abbinamento con i porri mi sembra particolarmente gustoso, ma grazieeeeee

  4. Massi, i just made it and i guess i boiled the potato too long and it’s turn out into a mushy dough and i guess it’s can be poached, so i batterred and breaded and then oven bake it until crispy, turn out pretty damn delicious too!!!
